Hey Smokey, it was so great to meet you and your wife. We were looking forward to hearing you sing at Refuge Church, but something came up and we missed you. I now have my own c.d. so that my husband can have his own one too. He borrowed mine, but I never got it back. Now we each have one. We were so glad Brenda and David Lambert said that they were going down to hear you sing on September 12th, so we decided to go too. We were not disappointed. It was really nice to meet you and your wife Brenda, and the singing was awesome. We all had a great time! Thanks for doing what you do, for you have an amazing talent. Just wanted you to know that I received the copy of Christian Country, today. I had never heard of Smokey Wilson until the death of my dear Aunt on May 1,2009. Several selections were played at her funeral service May 3. Her favorite was "Come Spring", and I have to say it is a beautiful song. I have ordered another copy of this CD today, for my son. Dear Smokey, It was great talking to you on the phone! I am so excited and can't wait to get your cd's, so I can put that beautiful voice on the North Carolina airways. I use to drive all the way from North Carolina just to hear you sing and to see the look on my grandma's face when you sang one of her favorite's......that was everyone you sing. Now, I am working at a radio station and we play lot's of southern and bluegrass gospel. Maybe I am just spoiled by hearing your versions of some of the songs that we play; but Smokey, Yours' are the best; and I am so looking forward to letting Raleigh and the surrounding areas hear the blessings that God has given you. I wanted to thank you for your tremendous use of your talent and using it for God. I was at the concert today at Clearview Baptist and wanted so much to Thank You in person; but it was a bit difficult to get near you as you were so taken with the young boy before the concert; and then you were surrounded by everyone afterwards. Had I been feeling stronger myself, I would have stayed to speak to you, but I needed to get home to lie down as I have severe Crohn's disease, and going out really tires me out.
Your music touches me deeply, as I'm sure it does many folks; but in trying to deal with this disease and feeding tube, I need all the spiritual feeding and support that I can get. And your music is one that truly helps to re-assure, that there will be a better day coming when Christ comes to take us home...

Thank you so much for coming to the hospital to sing to our Mom. I will never forget how she told you she loved you and held your arm. But, it got better. You came in the door singing her favorite song "God On The Mountain " and it made her so happy. A couple of days later she went Home to be with our Lord and Savior and I'll bet she's singing in Heaven's choir this very minute and the song is probably 'God On The Mountain'. Thank You so much for making this little austic boy so happy. He was so upset that he could not sing with Smokey because he was sick. It just touched my heart when he saw Smokey how he went right to him and put his arms around his neck. That was so precious. Austic children have a lot of issues with there immune system. He has been sick all weekend but he has not stopped talking about his Smokey or carrying around the cd's. He is already looking forward to seeing Smokey again. I think Blake and Smokey have a special bond. I think God has really worked through Smokey to teach this child through music. Hope you and your family are doing well. Been meaning to send you a line or two about my 8-year old grandson who is autistic. He saw you at our church on Easter Sunday and what a blessing that was in more than one way. My grandson loved you and up until that point; he could not tolerate religious music very well. Autistic children can not tolerate certain sounds, it shuts them down and they will start rocking back and forth, or hold their hand over their ears. But he fell in love with you and he loves to hear you sing. And if he sees a picture of you, he says: that's my Smokey! We had bought a CD from you: Songs of Inspiration and the CD player in my car went bad and ruined the CD. My grandson was so upset. We had another CD that we've been playing for him since I got a new CD player in my car and I need to replace that one. But whenever he gets in my car he says, put Smokey in? I had told Pastor Duck the next time that you were at our church that I needed to introduce Blake to you. You have been a real step forward in this little boy's life and and walk with God. You just don't know how this touches my heart as well. God is working through you to teach this little boy.
Yesterday, I had some tapes of Michael Combs and Blake was watching him and said that I have to talk to that guy; he is singing my Smokey's songs. We tried to explain to him but he didn't understand. Then today, I saw that you are going to be at Gethsemane Baptist Church on 9/22/06. I'm planning on bringing my precious grandson to finally meet you. His name is Blake Davis and his favorite songs are:

I am Linda Gayle, Brenda Hamilton's friend. I and my friend Brenda Berry were at the Lighthouse Baptist Church in Richmond on Sunday; and you all invited us to eat lunch. I want to tell you that I think you are one of the most beautiful couples; that I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. I can see the love from your head to your toes for each other, and for the Lord. I feel like you guys are so down to earth and love everyone, and that makes me love you guys back. I lost my husband 3 years ago, and had to fight my way back to life again. I did it with the help of Jesus, and I feel as if He has something special for me to do also. I sit with the elderly and I love them so. I guess that I am a nuturer, and I love taking care of others who need me. Must be what Jesus had in mind for me! I have been to your Concerts, when there was only 20 People; and I also have seen a couple Hundred at some, and you Sang to the Lord the same at all of them. I listen to your CDs all the time and of course ....my favorite....."SUPER ANGEL"....You sang that at my precious mother's funeral last year and it was if that song was written about my mother. With this Sunday being Mother's Day...I will be playing your song ...as loud as the neighbors will allow....on Sunday. I wish you were going to be at St. Andrews on Sunday to sing it for her again.

I could sit and listen to you sing God's Words seven days a week. It has touched me that much and Pastor Gooch made a comment today: about the only time I come to church is when Smokey is here. So, I have made a decision to myself; that I am going to go to church every Sunday from now on. I was thinking the other day that God gives to me, and is there for me seven days a week. My wife and I took our family to see Smokey at Bedford, VA. and we enjoyed it very much. My 9 year old son just could not believe he met Smokey! He talked all the way back home,(which is a 3 hour drive from Bedford)and we all had a great time talking about Smokey. He is a down to earth kind of guy and you don't see that alot when entertainers get to his caliber, but lets not forget! Smokey is not an entertainer but called of God to minister! Finally, A recording project that captures the ministry of Smokey Wilson in person! "On Fire For God" is an accurate description of both the music ministry of Brother Smokey, and the CD that bears the title. In over 20 years of ministry there are few regulars here at Lighthouse Baptist Church. However, Smokey is a regular here in Richmond at the Lighthouse Baptist Church, and our people love him and his wife Brenda. There has never been a time that we called on Smokey that the LORD did not use him to bless the ministry here. If you are looking for a gospel CD that will bring to you a personal blessing then "On Fire For God" is one to do it. I met Smokey and Brenda a few years back at Fairview Christian Chirch in Lynchburg, and do my best to follow them where ever they go. I have all of his CD's(they are just about wore out) and anxiously awaiting the new one!
Whenever I am down and feeling overly burdened I listen to Smokey's music louder than normal and it lifts me back up and gets me going once again.

We are always blessed by his minstry in song and thank God that he is faithful to that call. I would encourage everyone to lift him and his wife up in prayer for their health and God's blessing.
